Chelsea, lace-up or heeled: every pair here is free of animal leather, and the material is what sets them apart. Microfibre leads the selection — densely worked, steady in wet weather and happy with daily wear without any special care.

Three models use apple leather, made from residues of the apple juice industry; its slightly irregular grain is easy to spot. Neither material is free of trade-offs: both contain polyurethane, and we would rather say so than stay silent.
